Amirah: Top 5 Favorite Debut Songs
Monday, July 29, 2013 6:54 PM

Korean Pop is whole package. We have the music, visuals and not to forget the very difficult dance moves. It’s no wonder that the K-pop fanbase is growing, along with the increasing number of group debuts each year. Speaking about debuts, the first single from any group is usually the one that defines the group and their music. The list below is my top 5 favorite debuts of all time.

1. SNSD (Girls’ Generation) – Into the New World

The reigning queens of K-pop, the 9-member group is probably one of my favorite girl groups of all time. Among all of their top hits, my favorite would always their debut song, “Into the New World”. The music video gives off a sweet and innocent feeling, which is a total opposite to their song, which is very upbeat and uplifting. To top it off, the girls have such a strong and powerful choreography, unlike many of the other girl groups at that time.

2. SHINee – Replay

When you have five handsome young men in one video, I’m sure the girls will agree with me that its one of the best things ever. Although the song is mostly dedicated to the older females, but no matter, you can still enjoy the song and the video, which is really visually entertaining. Being in the same company as SNSD, you will definitely find a powerful and difficult choreography that is sure to amaze you.

3. BEAST – Bad Girl

No, they’re not beastly or hunky or anything like that whatsoever. But they do have the looks and it’s a plus point when you watch them sing and dance. The song is totally catchy and I find myself snapping my fingers to it as I listened for the first time. Another thing that I like about this is their outfit in the music video. For this song, I really recommend watching their live performances.

4. Teen Top – Clap

I’ll try not to be biased here but I really like this song. It’s one of my favorites among so many other songs till this day. The boys were really young, the youngest being 15 years old at that time, but they were able to give such a powerful and astounding performance. I really liked the dance, it seems difficult but it’s actually easy to follow. They may not have the typical handsome K-pop look but the song totally makes up for it. The song is powerful, the dance is amazing, and so what’s there not to like?

5. 100% - Bad Boy

Who doesn’t love guys with a manly concept and feel? Dubbed the second “2PM”, the boys of 100% made a powerful debut with “Bad Boy” coupled with a strong and powerful choreography. I definitely recommend you to listen to their live performances. The main vocals have such powerful voices and the rappers are great as well. Dancing while singing so powerfully, hats off to these guys!
