It's that time of year again to honor Mothers all over the world. Show your mother or any mother figures in the family by celebrating Mother's Day, which falls on 12th May, this 2013.

Different countries celebrate Mother's Day on different days. For Singaporeans, we celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May. Although you should show appreciation for your mother every single day, it never hurts to make this Sunday extra special for your mother.

Just like other countries around the globe, Mother's Day is not a grand occasion nor is it a public holiday. Celebration is up to oneself. In Singapore, there really is nothing much to do for a celebration except for a family dinner.

Most people wreck their brains to try to come up with a unique idea to prove their love and appreciation for their mother. As years pass, people are running out of ideas. Fret not, this article gives some tips and suggestions on how to celebrate Mother's Day.

1. Go on a stay-cation weekend
Since Mother's Day takes place on a Sunday, why not treat your beloved mom and your family to a short stay-cation in a local hotel? Marina Bay Sands offers a generously sized room with a beautiful view from their rooms. You can also bring your mother and your family up to the infinity pool, located at the highest floor of MBS for a swim. Pamper your mom by bringing her to the casino attached to this establishment or if she is not interested in gambling, take her shopping at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands and buy her something nice.

3. Surprise her with something handmade
Find the above options too expensive? Surprise your mother with a handmade gift! Make her a scrapbook, fill it with pictures of you and her since young, write in your memories of her and thank her for always supporting you. Make her a tribute video, get your family members to say how much they appreciate her. Put in pictures and her favorite song, anything that will express how much you love her. Make her dinner, cook her favorite dishes instead of her cooking for a change. Clean up the kitchen and leave it spotless. It's okay even if you end up making a horrible meal, it will just remind your mom how much you really appreciate her.

Mother's Day need not be celebrated with grandeur. Make a simple card, give your mom a hug and tell her you love her. That will be the greatest gift to her. Listening to her on a regular basis would be even better than just celebrating this day with her!

xx,
