Khairi: Magazine Design

Today, we learned that a combination of various design elements could make a magazine stand out from others and create its own identity. Not just the cover page though, the positioning of the articles and graphics, the typography as well as the use of space inside forms what the magazine is all about.

Have you ever seen Esquire magazine's covers? It's masthead, or its name label, looks really like a person's handwriting. Esquire magazines are also unique since their cover models are in main focus and blocks a portion of its masthead and text on the cover. Not only that, the rest of the cover is filled with words that are so deliciously placed and sized that it looks great without looking excessive.
After going through today's design lesson, we feel really excited to plan the layout of our magazine as well as its design. We hope that our cover design will hook people into flipping open our magazine and have a pleasant reading experience backed by fantastic design and layout of the pages inside!
